How the cursive j works — joins, family, and the usual mistake
J is an undercurve-family letter (i, j, p, r, s, t, u, w) with a descender loop shared with g and y. Forgetting the baseline crossover leaves j dangling open — the loop must come back through the line.

The cursive capital J
The cursive capital J is one of the showiest capitals: a big upper loop and a sweeping lower loop crossing at the baseline, like a fancy fish-hook. It rarely resembles the print J.
