How the cursive d works — joins, family, and the usual mistake
D is an oval-family letter (a, c, d, g, o, q): the oval comes first, the stem second. Looping the tall stem is the classic error — a looped d reads as dl. The stem is a plain retrace.

The cursive capital D
The cursive capital D is drawn in one stroke: a tall downstroke, a loop at the baseline, then a big rounded body that closes at the top with a small tail.
