How this cursive generator works
The cursive you see here isn't a font: it's Unicode script characters, the same
standard your device uses for every letter and emoji. That's why it survives copy-paste: apps treat
𝒸𝓊𝓇𝓈𝒾𝓋ℯ exactly like plain text. It's also why it works in places where you could never install a
font: Instagram bios, TikTok captions, Discord names, YouTube comments. Curious about the mechanics?
Read how Unicode fonts work.
Where cursive text works (and where it breaks)
Works Instagram bios & captions, TikTok captions,
Discord, WhatsApp, Facebook, X, YouTube comments, and most documents.
Limited Username and display-name fields (Instagram, most games)
often strip script characters. Keep handles in plain text.
Limited A few older devices show missing-glyph boxes (▯).
If that happens, use a simpler style or fewer accents:
see why fonts show as boxes.
Unicode cursive vs real cursive fonts
Use Unicode cursive when you need cursive inside text fields: social profiles, chats,
video titles. Use a real cursive typeface (in Word, Canva, or your design tool) when you control the
document and need print-quality kerning. Both have their place; this tool covers the first job.
Russian cursive & other alphabets
Unicode script letters only exist for the Latin alphabet, so Cyrillic (Russian), Greek, and Arabic
text passes through unstyled. If you're here to learn Russian cursive handwriting, you'll want
practice sheets for the handwritten forms rather than a Unicode converter: our
printable practice sheet covers the Latin A–Z equivalent.
Learning cursive handwriting
Generators are for digital text, but they double as reference charts. Print the
practice sheet for tracing, study how each capital connects in the
letter explorer, and keep essential accessibility habits in mind:
short decorative lines, plain text for the rest
(accessibility guide).
Cursive for tattoos
Script lettering is the most-requested tattoo style. Preview your word here at a large size, then use
the dedicated tattoo font generator: it adds lettering families,
dates in Roman numerals, initials, and an ink-size legibility test.
Make your whole bio flow
Pair a cursive headline with clean body text, the combination that stands out and stays readable.
It converts the letters you type into Unicode script characters, special symbols that look like cursive handwriting but behave like normal text. Because they are real characters (not a font or an image), you can copy them and paste them into bios, captions, comments, and messages, and they keep their cursive look. Read more in our guide to how Unicode fonts work.
Type or paste your text in the box at the top, then hit Copy on the style you like. The cursive version is now on your clipboard: paste it anywhere that accepts text: Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, Discord, documents, and more.
Use the Cursive Letters A–Z section on this page. Tap any letter to see its capital and lowercase form in every cursive style, copy just the one you need, or download it as a PNG. You can also link straight to a letter, for example #cursive-s.
Yes. The cursive alphabet section has full A–Z charts (uppercase, lowercase, and numerals) for the classic, bold, and gothic script styles, each with a one-click Copy alphabet button.
Yes. The name & signature studio turns any name into signature-style cursive: classic script, bold script, underlined autograph, ornate nameplate, and monogram initials. It's a quick way to preview how your name flows in cursive before using it in a bio, an email sign-off, or a design.
Yes, cursive Unicode pastes cleanly into Instagram bios and captions, TikTok, X, Facebook, WhatsApp, Discord, and YouTube. Keep usernames and handles in plain text, though: many username fields strip or reject special characters. See our Instagram fonts page for platform-specific tips.
Completely free: no sign-up, no watermarks, no limits. Everything runs in your browser.
Unicode has no true cursive digits, so the cursive styles pair script letters with matching stylised numerals: light sans-serif numbers for Ultra Script and heavier ones for Ultra Script Bold. Type digits alongside your text and they are styled to fit.
Unicode script characters only exist for the Latin alphabet A–Z, so Russian (Cyrillic), Greek, Arabic, and CJK text passes through unchanged. For Russian cursive handwriting you'd need a real cursive font or handwriting practice resources rather than a Unicode converter.
Yes, type your word or name and compare the script styles at a large size before committing. For a dedicated experience with lettering families, dates in Roman numerals, and initials, try our tattoo font generator.
Yes. Our printable cursive alphabet page has a Download PDF button that produces a printable A–Z page: each row shows the cursive model letters plus space to trace and repeat them: handy for teachers, parents, and anyone learning cursive.
A few older devices and apps are missing the Unicode script glyphs, so they show a fallback box (▯) instead. It's rare on modern phones. If it happens, switch to a simpler style or remove the decorative accents. More in why fonts show as boxes.
It's not a font: it's a set of special characters, which is why it survives copy-paste. It pastes fine into Word and Google Docs, but for print-quality documents you may prefer an actual cursive typeface; use this tool when you need cursive in places where you can't install fonts (social media, chats, video titles).
Screen readers may spell script characters out one by one, so keep cursive for short, expressive lines (a name, a headline, a bio flourish) and leave essential information in plain text. See our fancy fonts accessibility guide.
