Arena of Valor goes by a different name in each of its biggest markets: Liên Quân Mobile in Vietnam and 傳說對決 in Taiwan, both run by Garena. The name rules on this page are the ones documented for those two editions, and two of them catch out players coming from Mobile Legends.
The first is the limit: 12 characters, minimum 1, and a symbol counts as one character, the same as a letter. Free Fire charges some symbols double; AoV does not, so a ꧁ ꧂ frame costs two of your twelve. The second is that the name field rejects a plain space. A two-word name needs an invisible character between the words, which you can copy from the invisible character page.

A rename spends a Rename Card, so check the name before you confirm:
1. Copy your styled name from the generator or the lists above.
2. Open Arena of Valor and tap your avatar to open your profile.
3. Choose the rename option next to your current name.
4. Paste the copied name and confirm with the card. It must be 1 to 12 characters with no plain spaces.
Rename Cards are sold in the in-game shop or handed out through events and missions, and the price moves between versions, so trust the shop over any fixed number you read online. A video or link offering unlimited free Rename Cards is an account scam: all it wants is your login.
Most framed AoV names are built from the same small set. The Javanese frames ꧁ ꧂ go on the outside, often with the Tibetan ༒ or ࿐ just inside them; the brackets ༺ ༻ are the lighter alternative. Crowns ♛ ♚ mark a top-rank name, and the katakana strokes メ 彡 and 乂 give a name a sense of speed.
Styled letters work too: bold, cursive, gothic (Fraktur) and small caps all save. The one risk is display rather than rejection: a very rare symbol can save and still show up as a ▯ box on phones whose font lacks it. Small caps is the style least likely to do that, so start there if you are unsure.

In the Vietnam edition, Garena's Liên Quân Mobile council has auto-corrected names it judges invalid since January 1, 2026, and locks the rename feature for between 1 day and 3 years, scaled by severity and by whether the account has offended before. Decorative symbols are not the target; the penalty applies to names and avatars that breach Garena's content policy. The 12-character limit itself did not change.
