Since January 1, 2026, an invalid character name or avatar in Liên Quân Mobile is corrected by the system automatically, and your rename feature is locked for anywhere from 1 day to 3 years. The 12-character name limit has not moved. What it costs to get a name wrong has.
This update is about the penalty, not the name field. Nothing about what you are allowed to type has changed.
| Rule | Status | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Name length limit | Unchanged | 12 characters, weighted count, no plain spaces |
| Allowed decorative symbols | Unchanged | Symbols count normally, not double |
| Consequence for an invalid name or avatar | 🆕 New, Jan 1, 2026 | Auto-corrected by the system; rename locked 1 day to 3 years by severity and repeat offences |
Garena's Liên Quân Mobile council published the change as "Cập nhật các hành vi bị xử phạt và thời hạn khóa" (Update to Penalized Behaviors and Lock Durations), effective January 1, 2026.
Before it, an account using an invalid name or avatar mostly sat untouched until somebody reported it. Now the system corrects the name or avatar itself and locks the rename and profile-info-change feature.
The lock runs from 1 day to 3 years, scaled by how serious the violation is and whether the account has offended before. Garena states that range and has not published which behaviours land in which tier.
People keep confusing this with Garena's March 2024 enforcement notice. They are different events.
| March 2024 notice | January 2026 update | |
|---|---|---|
| What it was | A one-off enforcement wave | A change to the standing penalty rules |
| Who it hit | Accounts already carrying invalid names at that moment | Any account whose name or avatar is flagged from now on |
| What happened | Mass rename, no lasting restriction | Auto-correction plus a rename lock of 1 day to 3 years |
Decorative Unicode is not the target here. You can still build a name from symbols inside the existing rules: 12 characters, no plain spaces, symbols counted at their normal weight. The update goes after names and avatars that breach Garena's content policy.
The group with something real to lose is anyone whose symbol combination could be misread by the filter as something it flags. Under the old enforcement that cost you a correction. Now it can cost you the rename button for up to three years, which is worth a check before you spend Quân Huy on a change.
Test a name against the 12-character rule on our Vietnamese Kí Tự Đặc Biệt Liên Quân page, which carries a live checker calibrated to it. For the same question across Free Fire, PUBG Mobile and Mobile Legends, see why was my game name rejected.
Garena gives the 1-day-to-3-year range and stops there. As of September 2, 2026 no public breakdown maps a specific behaviour to a specific lock length, so nobody outside Garena can tell you what a given name would cost. We add the tiers here if Garena publishes them.

Open Kí Tự Đặc Biệt Liên Quân →Per Garena's official Liên Quân Mobile announcement, "Cập nhật các hành vi bị xử phạt và thời hạn khóa từ 1/1/2026" (Vietnamese-language). The page blocks automated fetching, the same behaviour Riot's, Roblox's and Epic's own help pages show, so this citation is corroborated through Garena's own site listing and indexed search results rather than a full page render.
