Clan Tag Generator

Copy a ready-made tag, or build your own with fonts, brackets and symbols — then check whether it fits your game's clan tag field before you pay to change it. Share one link so your whole squad matches.

A clan tag is the short identifier — usually 2 to 5 letters — that sits in front of every member's name to show who you roll with. Copy one of the ready-made tags below, or type your own letters into the field above and let the Tag Studio style them: pick a font, wrap it in [ ], ꧁꧂, or angle brackets, and add a separator. Because every character is real Unicode, the style sticks when you paste it into your in-game name.

The one thing only this page does: build the tag once and share a team-template link. The link carries the recipe — font, bracket, separator — not a finished string, so each teammate opens it, types their own name, and gets the exact same styling automatically. No more pasting glyphs in Discord and hoping everyone matches.

Ready-Made Clan Tags (Click to Copy)

Tags you can take as-is — tap one to copy, then paste it in front of your name in-game. Every one is plain Unicode, so the styling survives the paste. Want your own letters in these frames instead? Build it in the Tag Studio below.

3 & 4 Letter Tags

Short, sharp, and readable in any kill feed.

Sweaty / Pro Tags

Aggressive styling for sweaty lobbies.

Clean / Esports Tags

Minimal styling that stays readable everywhere.

Does Your Game Even Have a Clan Tag Field?

This decides whether a decorated tag is legal at all, and almost every clan tag guide skips it. There are four different situations, and only one of them lets you paste ꧁ᴛᴀɢ꧂.

1. A separate clan tag field, with its own stricter rules

The game stores the tag apart from your name and prefixes it automatically. These fields are typically short and plain-text only. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is the clearest documented case: the clan tag is up to 4 characters, accepts only English letters, numbers, hyphen and underscore, must start with a letter or number, allows no spaces, and needs at least two letters/numbers. Changing it costs 990 G-COIN. A styled tag is rejected outright here — put the plain letters in the tag field and save the styling for your own display name.

2. No tag field — the tag goes inside your display name

Fortnite, Valorant and Roblox have no clan tag field, so players type the tag into their own name: [TAG] Name. This is where decoration works, because the display name accepts Unicode — but the tag and your name now share one character budget. A 6-character framed tag in a 16-character field leaves you 10. Pick your game in the studio above and it does that subtraction for you.

Worth separating: the #TAG on the end of a Riot ID is an account discriminator, not a clan tag — you can't share it with your team.

3. A clan or guild name, but no per-player tag

Free Fire guilds have a guild name; members' nicknames aren't prefixed with a tag automatically. Players who want the look add it to their own nickname, so the same shared budget applies as in case 2.

4. "Clan tag" means an ID code you can't choose

In Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, a clan tag is an auto-generated code like #ABC123 used to find a clan or contact support. You can't pick or style it. What you can style is the clan name and your own player name — see the Clash of Clans name generator and Clash Royale name generator.

Where a game's tag rules aren't published by the developer, the studio says so rather than inventing a number. Call of Duty is the common example — secondary sources give 4, 5 and 6 characters, and there's no first-party document to settle it.

How to Make a Clan Tag the Whole Squad Shares

Start with the tag: 2–5 letters, ideally a word or initials your team already says out loud. Type it above and pick a font — Bold and Small Caps read cleanest and have the widest game support, while Gothic and cursive look sharper but may not render everywhere.

Then frame it. Square brackets [TAG] read as classic esports; ꧁꧂ and ★彡 go for a flashier look. Keep it to one symbol on each side so the tag fits the game's character limit and doesn't get cut off in the kill feed.

Finally, hit Share Team Template. Drop the link in your clan's Discord — each member opens it, types their own name, and the identical font and frame are applied automatically. If a tag shows as boxes (▯) or gets rejected, switch to Bold or Small Caps, which pass the most game filters.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the clan tag generator work?

Type a short tag (2–5 letters work best) into the generator at the top, then pick a font, a bracket like [ ] or ꧁꧂, and a separator. The styled tag is built instantly — click to copy it and paste it into your in-game name. Bold and Small Caps have the widest support; fancier fonts may show as boxes in some games.

How do I make my whole clan's tags match?

Build the tag once, then click Share Team Template. You get a link that stores the recipe — the font, bracket, and separator — not a finished string. Every member opens the link, types their own name, and the identical styling is applied automatically. That keeps the whole roster consistent without anyone copying glyphs by hand.

What is a good clan tag length?

Most games and esports teams use 2 to 5 characters. Three and four-letter tags are the most popular because they stay readable in kill feeds and on scoreboards. Keep symbols to one or two so the tag does not get cut off or rejected by the game's character limit.

Will a styled clan tag work in Call of Duty, Warzone, or PUBG?

It depends on which field you are filling. PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has a dedicated clan tag field that accepts only English letters, numbers, hyphen and underscore, up to 4 characters — a styled or bracketed tag is rejected there. Display names are far more permissive, so a styled tag pasted into your own name usually works: for Call of Duty and Warzone stick to Bold or Small Caps, which have the highest acceptance rate, and note that COD Mobile allows only plain ASCII for the base name. Pick your game in the studio above and it tells you which case you are in.

Is the clan tag generator free?

Yes — completely free, no sign-up, no app. Everything runs in your browser and nothing you type is sent to a server. The output is plain Unicode text, so it is safe to copy and paste anywhere.

Does my game have a clan tag field, or do I put the tag in my name?

Both exist and they behave differently. Games like PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS store the clan tag separately and prefix it onto your name, with their own short, plain-text rules. Fortnite, Valorant and Roblox have no tag field at all, so the tag goes inside your display name and shares that name's character limit. Free Fire has a guild name but no automatic per-player tag. The section above breaks all four cases down.

How many characters will I have left for my own name?

Only relevant when the tag goes inside your display name. Subtract the full framed tag — brackets and separators included, not just the letters — from the game's name limit. A 6-character tag like ꧁ᴛᴀɢ꧂ in a 16-character field leaves 10. Select your game in the studio and it does the subtraction live as you type.

Can I check whether a clan tag is already taken?

Not from here, and be sceptical of any site that claims otherwise — no game exposes a public API for clan tag availability, so it cannot be checked from a web page. The only reliable way is to search the tag in your game's own clan browser before you commit. Note that some games, including PUBG, allow the same clan tag to be used by more than one clan, so a match is not always a blocker.

What does it cost if I get the clan tag wrong?

Enough to be worth checking first. A PUBG clan name or tag change costs 990 G-COIN, and most games charge a premium currency for a guild or clan rename rather than letting you edit it freely. That cost is the whole reason this page validates the tag against the field's rules instead of just styling it and wishing you luck. Where a game's exact price isn't published by the developer, we don't quote one.
