Character Limits & Rules
About Me supports up to 190 characters of full Unicode — styled fonts, symbols and emoji all work. That's different from your username, which allows no Unicode at all (lowercase letters, numbers, underscores and periods only). It can. Some styled Unicode characters and most emoji are built from more than one code unit, so a bio that looks short can use more of the 190-character budget than the same words in plain text. Trust the live counter above rather than eyeballing the length — it counts exactly what Discord will count.

Rendering & Safety
It's a device font-support gap, not a Discord rule — some Unicode blocks aren't shipped in every phone's font set, so a style that looks perfect on your screen can render as □□□□ on someone else's, especially older Android devices. Bold, italic and small caps are the safest, near-universal choices; Fraktur (blackletter/Gothic) and heavily decorative or zalgo styles are the most likely to break. No, ordinary styled Unicode text is not against Discord's platform rules. The one styling choice that does get moderated in practice is heavy zalgo (many stacked combining marks), because it can break chat layout and readability — many servers restrict it in their own rules even though it isn't a platform-wide ban.
