Scorpio's glyph (♏) is a scorpion's body ending in a raised, stinging tail — and its constellation, Scorpius, sits opposite Orion, so the hunter and the scorpion are never above the horizon at the same time. Click any symbol to copy it instantly.
The Scorpio symbol (♏, U+264F) is drawn as a stylized ‘m’ whose final stroke curls upward into an arrow — the scorpion's raised, stinging tail. The myth ties it to Orion the Hunter, who boasted he could kill every animal on earth; in the best-known version the earth goddess Gaia answered his arrogance by sending a giant scorpion, which stung him to death (some accounts credit the goddess Artemis instead). Both were set among the stars afterward, but on opposite sides of the sky — and that placement is a genuine, observable fact rather than just a story: as Scorpius climbs in the east, Orion sinks in the west, so the hunter and the scorpion are never above the horizon at the same time. Scorpio runs October 23–November 21, is ruled by Pluto in modern astrology (traditionally Mars), and is a Water sign with Fixed modality.
