Pickle Emoji

A whole pickle (gherkin), distinct from cucumber and eggplant — drafted for Emoji 18.0, expected alongside Unicode 18.0 in September 2026. Draft only: no font renders it yet. Click to copy the codepoint anyway.

Pickle (🫝, U+1FADD) is a candidate emoji drafted for Emoji 18.0, the emoji companion to Unicode 18.0, expected to finalize in September 2026. Its codepoint has an unusual backstory: U+1FADD was originally reserved for a proposed "Apple Core" emoji in the Emoji 17.0 draft cycle; that proposal was deferred, and Unicode reassigned the freed slot to Pickle for the 18.0 cycle instead. It depicts a whole pickle (a pickled gherkin), distinct from the existing Cucumber and Eggplant emoji it's most often joked about alongside — tech-press comment sections have floated everything from "that pickle is going to break the internet" to speculation it'll "take a lot of business from" Eggplant. Because it's still a draft, no operating system, keyboard, or font currently renders it; expect a blank box or placeholder glyph until Emoji 18.0 is approved and platforms ship support.
