Halloween Kaomoji

Ghosts, bats, vampires, zombies and witches typed out in text, ready for an October caption or a spooky group chat. Tap a face and it is on your clipboard.

Halloween text faces borrow shapes from all over Unicode. The Canadian syllabic ᗣ has a rounded top and a wavy hem, so it reads as a sheet ghost, the same one that chases ᗧ in Pac-Man text art. A bat is a face between two wings made of /|\, and a zombie is a face with one arm stretched forward by ¬. There is no fang character, so vampire faces use 皿, a Japanese character for a dish whose bars look like bared teeth, or the small triangle ▿. Most people post these in the last week of October, up to Halloween night on 31 October. For pictures rather than text, the 🎃 👻 🦇 emoji and themed symbols are on the Halloween symbols page linked below.

Frequently Asked Questions

Halloween Kaomoji, Answered

Which character makes the ghost in Halloween text art?

Usually ᗣ, U+15E3 from the Unified Canadian Aboriginal Syllabics block. Its dome and scalloped bottom edge look like a sheet ghost, which is why Pac-Man text art writes the chase as ᗧ···ᗣ.

How do you type vampire fangs in a kaomoji?

Unicode has no fang character. Kaomoji use 皿, whose vertical bars look like a row of teeth, as in (`皿´)ψ, or a small downward triangle ▿ under the eyes. The 🩸 or 🦇 emoji beside the face makes the vampire reading obvious.

What does [¬º-°]¬ mean?

It is a zombie walking with one arm reaching forward. The ¬ is the stiff arm, and º and ° are eyes of different sizes. Typing it two or three times in a row makes a zombie horde.
