Question marks, tilted heads, mismatched eyes and baffled shrugs. Tap a puzzled face to copy it into any chat.
Confusion in a kaomoji comes from what sits around the face as much as the face itself. A trailing ? or ? turns any blank look into a question. Eyes of two sizes, as in o_O or (⊙_☉), show a double take. Spiral or @ eyes mean the head is spinning, and arms raised in ┐ ┌ are a shrug that says no idea. A ゞ after the face is a hand scratching the back of the head, which is the classic anime gesture for being lost. Send one when a message makes no sense, when instructions contradict themselves, or when you simply did not follow. The 😕 🤨 emoji versions are on the confused emoji page linked below.
The simplest confused face: a blank look with a question mark attached.
The face sits off to one side of its brackets, so it looks turned or tilted.
One big eye and one small eye is a double take. Spirals and @ signs are a spinning head.
Arms up at both sides: the reader has no answer and is not going to pretend otherwise.
ゞ is a raised hand at the back of the head, borrowed from the anime gesture for embarrassment or confusion.
It is a double take. One eye is wide and the other is narrow, as if the reader is staring at something odd and not sure they read it right. O.o and (⊙_☉) mean the same thing.
ゞ is a Japanese kana repetition mark. In kaomoji its shape stands in for a hand raised to the back of the head, which in anime means confusion or mild embarrassment.
Both are shrugs with arms raised. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ is relaxed and says it does not matter. ┐( ̄ヘ ̄)┌ has a frowning mouth, so it reads as being stumped rather than unbothered.
The UltraTextGen kaomoji generator filters the parts by mood, then lets you swap the outline, eyes and mouth and add cheeks or arms, keeping the left and right sides matched. Every part is plain Unicode text, so the face pastes wherever you are typing.
