Best tool for each use case

No single Zalgo generator is best for every job. In our September 29, 2026 test of 12 tools, Glyphy, FontCraft and Pixelied were fastest, UltraTextGen had the most control, PSD-Dude set each zone separately, and Zalgo.io gave the same result on request.

Which Zalgo generator offers the most creative control?

UltraTextGen offered the most creative control in our September 29, 2026 test of 12 Zalgo generators. It produced 9 of the 10 test effects that need no shape control, against 8 for Textavia's Glitch Text Generator and 7 each for Zalgo.io, Coddy and PSD-Dude.

UltraTextGen exposes separate controls for mark family, position, frequency, amount and progression shape. It was the only tested generator with a mark-family choice and a frequency control separate from the amount.

UltraTextGen does not do everything. Textavia's Glitch Text Generator has more presets (55 to 8), and Zalgo.io's "Consistent" toggle and PSD-Dude's per-zone sliders did the jobs UltraTextGen added on September 30 first.

Which Zalgo generator is easiest to use?

Glyphy, FontCraft and Pixelied were the easiest Zalgo generators in our September 29, 2026 test: type once, then copy, with no settings to learn and a usable result on the first screen of a phone.

Zalgo.io and Textavia's Zalgo page also take 2 steps but start empty. UltraTextGen took 4 steps on September 29 and 2 after its September 30 update, but it shows far more controls, so for quick Zalgo a simpler tool is still less to look at.

Which tool can make text progressively more corrupted?

UltraTextGen and Textavia's Glitch Text Generator were the only two of 12 Zalgo generators tested on September 29, 2026 that can make corruption build up, fade out or change along a sentence.

UltraTextGen has six progression shapes: Slope Up, Slope Down, Wave, Pyramid, Valley and Steps, plus Uniform and Random. Each shape combines with any position, mark family, frequency and amount.

Textavia offers 11 fixed shape presets, including Progressive, Decay, Wave and Center Focus. Its rising, falling and peak presets followed their intended shape more closely in our test.

Textavia's Edges Only is a hard-edged valley, and we found no steps preset. No other tested generator has a shape control.

Which tools let you control where marks appear?

PSD-Dude and UltraTextGen give the finest control over where Zalgo marks go, with a separate amount above, through and below each letter (PSD-Dude tested September 29, UltraTextGen re-tested September 30, 2026). Zalgo.io, Coddy and SymbolDB switch any zone on or off.

Six of 12 tested generators can put marks above only: UltraTextGen, Zalgo.io, Coddy, PSD-Dude, SymbolDB and Textavia's Glitch Text Generator. All but SymbolDB can also do below only. UltraTextGen has five quick options (All, Up and Down, Up, Mid, Down) plus its Amount per zone sliders.

For marks only through the letters, use UltraTextGen's Mid option: the other tools' middle modes add stray marks above and below. For a single clean strike line, FontCraft's and Pixelied's strikethrough styles are better than any Zalgo tool. To control where along a sentence the corruption builds, see progression shapes.

Which tools can remove Zalgo text?

Four of 12 Zalgo generators tested on September 29, 2026 can remove Zalgo from pasted text: UltraTextGen, Zalgo.io, LingoJam and Zalgo.org.

Check accented names after decoding: every tested decoder strips an accent stored as a separate mark. UltraTextGen's decoder also removes its Thai cascade stacks while leaving ordinary Thai text alone.

What is best for simple, one-click Zalgo?

For one-click Zalgo, pick by what you care about: FontCraft if you want the same result every time, Pixelied if you want it to stay readable, Glyphy if you want fresh marks on every render (tested September 29, 2026).

FontCraft's 12 Zalgo levels repeat exactly. Pixelied's styles are mostly single marks. Glyphy's mark list includes a plain underscore, which changed the text in 8 of 44 default outputs.

LingoJam is the classic one-slider option, but it has no copy button.

What is best for advanced customization?

UltraTextGen is the best of the tested tools for advanced Zalgo customization, because it combines placement, mark type, frequency and shape in one output (tested September 29, 2026). For preset-driven effects, Textavia's Glitch Text Generator has 55 ready-made styles, shown as result cards once you type.

Effects UltraTextGen made on request: a sentence that starts clean and ends unreadable (Slope Up), corruption that peaks mid-sentence (Pyramid), marks only under the letters (Down), and one tiny letter above each character (Tiny Stack).

For the tallest classic stacks that hold, UltraTextGen's Extreme reached 300 marks on one letter after its September 30 update (272 with every position on); SymbolDB's Custom mode reached 105 on September 29. Zalgo.org reached 528, but its slider resets on the next keystroke.

Which tool gives the same result every time?

Zalgo.io has a switch for it: turn on "Consistent" and the same text always gives the same Zalgo (tested September 29, 2026). Coddy, FontCraft and Pixelied always repeat. UltraTextGen keeps a result until you press Regenerate and puts its seed in the share link, so the link reproduces the exact output (re-tested September 30, 2026).

Which tool makes the tall "invade the post above" stack?

UltraTextGen is the only tested tool with a Thai Cascade mode, which repeats one Thai mark up to 1,000 times on one letter; its Post Invader preset puts that stack on the kaomoji (つ ค c ) under your caption (re-tested September 30, 2026).

This is the effect in posts seen on X in September 2026, where the stack climbs over the posts above. How tall it draws depends on the app: some show a column, some a diagonal, some clip it. Post Invader's 230 marks plus a caption of about 40 characters fit a 280-character X post.

Which tool helps with character limits?

UltraTextGen is the only tested Zalgo generator that checks your output against platform limits as you type: Discord messages and nicknames, X posts and Instagram bios. Since its September 30, 2026 update, a tap on a red badge shrinks the effect until it fits. Zalgo.io instead has a Platform-Safe toggle that caps its intensity at 5 (tested September 29, 2026).

Every mark is a character, so heavy Zalgo fills limits fast. At default settings Zalgo.org turned "hello" into about 105 characters, over three times a 32-character Discord nickname.

We did not paste output into any app, so this comparison says nothing about what each platform displays.

UltraTextGen vs Zalgo.io: an alternative with more control

If you want more control than Zalgo.io, UltraTextGen adds mark types, frequency, six progression shapes, per-zone amounts, a platform limit check with one-tap fit, exact share links and GIFs. For a like-for-like swap, Coddy also combines zones freely and always repeats. Zalgo.io itself is simpler (Zalgo.io and Coddy tested September 29, UltraTextGen re-tested September 30, 2026).

Middle marks differ: Zalgo.io's "Middle" button measured 15% middle marks, and UltraTextGen's Mid measured 100%. Neither draws one clean strike line. Zalgo.io also split the 👁 emoji; UltraTextGen kept it whole.

UltraTextGen vs LingoJam: a LingoJam alternative

UltraTextGen is the LingoJam alternative with the most control: it adds presets, placement, mark types, shapes, a copy button, a platform limit check and GIFs. If you want LingoJam's one-slider simplicity plus a copy button, Glyphy and FontCraft are as fast (LingoJam, Glyphy and FontCraft tested September 29, UltraTextGen re-tested September 30, 2026).

LingoJam's "Craziness" slider runs from 0 to 50; at the top it averaged about 55 marks per letter, and its default 17. It adds marks to spaces and inside emoji. Both LingoJam and UltraTextGen remove Zalgo from pasted text.

UltraTextGen vs Textavia's Glitch Text Generator

UltraTextGen and Textavia's Glitch Text Generator are the only two tested tools with shape effects (September 29, 2026). Textavia gives you 55 fixed styles, shown as result cards once you type; UltraTextGen gives you separate controls you can combine.

Textavia's shape presets followed their intended profile more closely on average. UltraTextGen's shapes work with any position, mark type, frequency and amount, and include a graded Valley and Steps.

Textavia has no decoder, no regenerate button and no platform check, and none of its presets draws a clean middle-only layer.

How these tools were compared

On September 29, 2026 we took the generators that appeared most often across seven Zalgo search phrases on two search indexes, plus three we added with a stated reason. We tested each live page in a browser with the same ten inputs and fifteen effects, and measured all 3,774 captured outputs with one script.

Creative Fabrica blocked automated testing and is not rated. An automated reviewer checked the conclusions with tool names replaced by letters; it was not fully blind, because the method named UltraTextGen as the subject. On September 30, 2026 UltraTextGen updated its generator and only UltraTextGen was re-tested. Results can change as these sites update.
